The KENNAMETAL 3761035 is a CNMG431UP indexable turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for steel and stainless steel machining in roughing and medium-finish operations. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel and superalloys. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand, this insert suits high-material-removal-rate turning, facing, and boring applications. It measures 12.90 mm in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius.
This insert is part of the KENLOC series and is intended for use in CNMG-style toolholders with clamp or pin clamping. It is applied primarily in turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The UP chip breaker geometry supports chip control during roughing and medium machining passes. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry makes it well suited for rigid setups in CNC turning centers. Machinists and tooling specialists in job shops, production machining, and aerospace or general manufacturing environments will recognize this as a standard CNMG432-family geometry with a tighter corner radius for finish-to-semi-rough transitions.
Designed for use in CNMG431-style KENLOC toolholders and other ANSI CNMG431 and ISO CNMG120404 compatible insert pockets using clamp or pin insert-holding methods.
Indexable turning inserts are installed by machinists and tooling technicians following standard CNC lathe or turning center lockout and energy-isolation procedures before any insert change. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench per toolholder manufacturer specifications when tightening the clamp or pin. Inspect the cutting edge and chip breaker condition at each index before resuming cuts.
