The KENNAMETAL 3760457 is a CNMG542UP indexable turning insert in the KCM35 grade, designed for roughing and medium machining of steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer MTCVD coating system of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, delivering high toughness on steel and moderate wear-resistance on stainless steel. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert suits a wide range of turning, facing, and boring operations. It is installed by qualified machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert fits into the KENLOC toolholding system and is suited for external turning, facing, and boring on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. It is well-matched for applications involving steel and stainless steel workpieces where a balance of toughness and wear-resistance is required. The UP chip breaker geometry supports both roughing passes and medium material removal rates. The negative rake and negative side clearance geometry maximize edge strength, making this insert appropriate for interrupted cuts and scaled or hardened surfaces typical in steel and stainless steel part production.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG542 (ANSI) or CNMG160608 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring of steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials per the KCM35 grade specification.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and KENLOC clamping hardware to secure the insert; do not overtighten the clamp screw by feel alone. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating a new cutting edge to ensure proper insert contact and prevent premature edge failure.
