Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3760411 is a solid carbide turning insert with the TCMT3252MF geometry and KCM35 grade designation. It features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, designed to deliver high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The insert has a 60-degree triangular shape with a positive rake angle, a 7-degree relief angle, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge. With three usable cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, it is suited to finishing and medium machining operations. Machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in standard TCMT-compatible toolholders for production turning on steel, stainless steel, and superalloy workpieces.

This insert is applicable to external turning, facing, and boring operations in both job shop and production environments. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium machining cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It is appropriate for use on steel (P-class), stainless steel (M-class), and superalloys and titanium workpieces. The KCM35 grade characteristics emphasize high toughness for steel and a balance of wear resistance and toughness for stainless steel applications.

Key Features

  • MTCVD multilayer coating: TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for extended tool life across P- and M-class materials
  • MF chip breaker optimized for finishing and medium machining operations
  • Three usable cutting edges per insert for cost efficiency
  • Positive rake and positive side clearance reduce cutting forces
  • Chamfered and honed cutting edge style for edge stability and surface finish
  • Screw-on insert holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders

Compatibility

Designed for use in TCMT-style screw-on turning toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code TCMT3252 and ISO insert code TCMT16T308. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys and titanium.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without cracking the carbide. Inspect the pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before installing a fresh insert.
