Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3760349 is a CNMG642MP indexable turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating — TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 — applied via MTCVD process, delivering a combination of high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a rigid cutting geometry with a negative rake and neutral hand, making it a reliable choice for roughing and medium machining passes. Licensed technicians and machinists in production and job-shop environments reach for this insert when consistent edge life and chip control on difficult materials are the priorities.

This insert is suited for medium to heavy material removal on steel (P-grade workpiece materials) and stainless steel (M-grade), with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium. The MP chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining operations, and the four available cutting edges improve cost-per-edge efficiency on high-volume turning programs. Multi-use application coverage includes turning, facing, and boring across a range of cutting conditions.

Key Features

  • Multilayer CVD coating (TiN, TiCN, Al2O3) via MTCVD process for thermal resistance and edge durability
  • KCM25 grade — high toughness for steel, moderate wear resistance for stainless steel and superalloys
  • 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with negative rake and negative side clearance (CNMG geometry)
  • MP chip breaker optimized for roughing and medium machining chip control
  • Four cutting edges per insert with chamfered and honed cutting edge style
  • Compatible with clamp and pin insert-holding methods per KENLOC series tooling

Compatibility

Designed for use with KENLOC series toolholders accepting CNMG642 (ANSI) or CNMG190608 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating before use.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the new insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications for the specific clamp or pin style in use.
