The KENNAMETAL 3760346 is a CNMG542MP indexable turning insert in grade KCM25, designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge geometry. With an inscribed circle of 0.625 inches and a corner radius of 0.031 inches, it fits standard KENLOC-style toolholders using clamp or pin retention. Installed by machinists and tool-and-die professionals in production turning environments.
This insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The MP chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip flow across a range of feed rates and depths typical in production turning cells. The neutral hand orientation allows use in both right- and left-hand toolholder setups. It conforms to ANSI insert code CNMG542 and ISO insert code CNMG160608, making it a standard-dimension replacement in most CNMG-compatible toolholder systems. Each insert provides 4 usable cutting edges.
Designed as an OEM-specification insert for KENLOC-series toolholders accepting CNMG542 / CNMG160608 geometry inserts with clamp or pin retention. Fits any toolholder conforming to ANSI or ISO CNMG insert seat standards at this size code.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Before indexing or replacing inserts, ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped, the program is paused, and the toolholder is secured. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating pin per the toolholder manufacturer's instructions to avoid insert rocking or premature edge failure. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before seating each new edge.
