The KENNAMETAL 3760326 is a DCMT3251MF solid carbide turning insert in the KCM25 grade, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries a multilayer CVD coating - TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 - applied via MTCVD process, which builds wear resistance and thermal barrier properties in a single insert body. The 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting geometry while the MF chip breaker geometry targets finishing and medium machining operations. Insert length is 11.63 mm with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle and a 1/64 inch corner radius. The screw-on holding method provides positive, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders. Installed by machinists and tool-room technicians in production and job-shop turning environments.
This insert is engineered for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M), with secondary capability on superalloys and titanium (ISO S). The KCM25 grade is characterized by high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on stainless steel. It is well-suited to both roughing passes at the shallower end of its depth-of-cut range and light finishing passes where surface finish consistency is critical. Insert changes should be performed with the machine in a full stopped and locked-out state per applicable machine-specific lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct Torx or hex key for the insert screw and follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended tightening sequence - do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert body or damage the pocket seat. Inspect the pocket seat and screw for wear or debris before indexing to the fresh cutting edge.
