The KENNAMETAL 3760291 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation CPMT2152LF and the grade KCM25. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD, delivering a combination of high toughness on steel and moderate wear-resistance on stainless steel. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a positive rake geometry with an 11-degree relief angle and a honed cutting edge, making it well suited to finishing and light machining passes. Designed for screw-on toolholders, this insert is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is designed for finishing and light machining on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. The LF chip breaker geometry controls chip flow effectively at shallow depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Neutral hand orientation and a positive side clearance make it compatible with a wide range of screw-on toolholder setups used in production turning centers and manual lathes. The KCM25 grade targets P and M workpiece material classifications per ISO and ANSI standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-application insert for screw-on turning toolholders accepting CPMT-style inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with primary workpiece materials classified as Steel (P), Stainless Steel (M), and Superalloys and Titanium per ISO material group coding.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified screw to seat the insert in the toolholder pocket — overtightening the clamp screw can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
