The KENNAMETAL 3760287 is a CCMT2152LF-style solid carbide turning insert in the KCM25 grade, designed for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a multilayer CVD coating — TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process — that combines high toughness with moderate wear resistance. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides good nose strength and versatility across turning, facing, and boring operations. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining cuts. With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a honed cutting edge, this insert is built for controlled, clean cuts at tighter tolerances on difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is engineered for finishing and light machining of steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. It is suited for residential and industrial CNC turning applications where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are priorities. Designed as a screw-on replacement turning insert for standard CCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CCMT2152 and ISO insert code CCMT060208. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, stainless steel, and superalloy or titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists and CNC tool-crib technicians using the appropriate torque wrench and insert screw for the toolholder. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the tool is fully indexed before seating the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for screw torque and clamping method.
