The KENNAMETAL 3758803 is a VNMG332FP turning insert in KCM15 grade, engineered for precision metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating - TiCN over Al2O3 - applied via MTCVD process, delivering a balance of wear resistance and toughness suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a sharp, low-force cutting geometry. With a 0.375-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert is sized for light-to-moderate depths of cut up to 0.050 inches. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, producing controlled chips and consistent surface finishes.
The KCM15 grade is rated for steel (P) applications requiring moderate wear resistance and toughness, and for stainless steel (M) applications across a range from high to moderate wear resistance. Secondary suitability extends to superalloys and titanium (S). Typical use cases include OD turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on mill-turn and conventional turning centers in job shop and production environments. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working to ANSI and ISO tooling standards.
Conforms to ANSI insert designation VNMG332 and ISO designation VNMG160408. Designed for use in KENLOC and compatible VNMG toolholders that accept clamp or pin-and-clamp insert retention with a 0.150-inch hole diameter. Suitable for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications.
Installation and indexing should be performed with the machine fully stopped and locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw or pin to ensure repeatable edge location. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before each index. Worn or damaged insert seats reduce edge repeatability and can cause premature insert failure.
