The KENNAMETAL 3758802 is a VNMG331FP-geometry turning insert in grade KCM15, built from solid carbide and finished with a multilayer MTCVD TiCN and Al2O3 coating for extended tool life in demanding machining environments. The 35-degree diamond shape (Insert Shape Code V) delivers a strong, predictable cutting edge suited to high-material-removal-rate operations. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/64-inch corner radius, the insert carries a honed cutting edge and a negative rake geometry. It belongs to Kennametal's KENLOC series and is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in production turning applications.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It is engineered for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The FP chip breaker geometry is optimized for controlled chip evacuation across these material families. With four cutting edges per insert and a neutral hand orientation, it maximizes cost-per-edge value in high-volume production cells. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.05 inches).
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG331FP inserts with clamp or pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for VNMG geometry inserts. Verify toolholder seat geometry and pocket tolerance before substitution.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to seating-force fracture. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before each insert change.
