The KENNAMETAL 3758789 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation DNMG432FP and ISO designation DNMG150408, offered in the KCM15 grade. It features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 engineered for moderate to high wear resistance with maintained toughness. The insert carries a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 1/2-inch inscribed circle, a 1/32-inch (0.0313 inch) corner radius, and an insert thickness of 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch). With 4 usable cutting edges, a negative rake angle of 15 degrees, and an FP chip breaker optimized for finishing operations, this insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning specialists working in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys including titanium. The KCM15 grade targets steel (P-class, moderate wear resistance and toughness) and stainless steel (M-class, high to moderate wear resistance and toughness) as primary workpiece materials, with secondary suitability for superalloys and titanium (S-class). Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch). The FP chip breaker geometry is calibrated for finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional control are priorities.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series toolholders that accept DNMG432 inserts secured by clamp and pin holding methods. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and clamp type before installation.
Insert replacement is performed by machinists following machine lockout and spindle-stop procedures before accessing the toolholder. Use a torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to release the clamp or pin; do not force or pry the insert seat. Inspect the pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated and locked before resuming cuts. Cutting edge condition should be verified at regular intervals given the maximum depth-of-cut rating of this finishing geometry.
