Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3758136 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNMA434 geometry, designed for high-productivity metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the KCK20 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer PVD coating combining AlTiN and AlCrN for heat resistance and wear performance at the cutting edge. The insert has an 80-degree diamond shape with a neutral hand orientation and a flat-top chip breaker. The cutting edge is honed with a zero-degree rake angle and a zero-degree relief angle. With four available cutting edges per insert, it delivers consistent performance across turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces.

This insert is suited for both roughing and general-purpose turning applications in ferrous materials, including steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P and K. The CNMA style with clamp and pin holding method is common in heavy-duty turning setups where rigid clamping and depth-of-cut stability are required. It is used by machinists and toolroom professionals in production environments running moderate to high cutting parameters. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC-style toolholders designed for CNMA insert geometry.

Key Features

  • Multilayer AlTiN and AlCrN PVD coating for wear resistance in steel and cast iron cutting
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape provides a strong cutting edge for turning and facing
  • Four cutting edges per insert maximize tooling economy
  • Flat-top chip breaker with honed cutting edge for consistent chip control
  • Clamp and pin holding method for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders
  • Multi-use capability across turning, facing, and boring operations

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC-style toolholders accepting CNMA-geometry inserts. Compatible with applications involving steel and cast iron workpieces (ISO material groups P and K). Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CNMA434 insert geometry.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp and pin to prevent movement under cutting load. Index to a fresh cutting edge when flank wear or edge chipping is observed rather than running the edge to failure.
