Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 3758092 is a DCMT3251LF-style screw-on turning insert manufactured from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer CVD system - TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process - under the KCM25 grade designation. The insert features a 55-degree diamond shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, a 7-degree relief angle, and a honed cutting edge style. The LF chip breaker geometry is engineered for controlled chip formation during light-to-medium cuts. With 2 cutting edges and a screw-on holding method, this insert fits standard DCMT toolholders used in CNC turning centers and manual lathes.

This insert is intended for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material codes P, M, and S. Typical applications include turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations in production and job-shop environments. The KCM25 grade and multilayer CVD coating make it suited for interrupted and continuous cuts in these demanding material groups. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators working to ANSI and ISO tooling standards.

Key Features

  • Multilayer CVD coating: TiN, TiCN, Al2O3 - engineered for wear resistance in steel and superalloy cuts
  • KCM25 grade designation for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO P, M, S)
  • LF chip breaker geometry for controlled chip flow on light-to-medium depth cuts
  • Positive rake angle reduces cutting forces on challenging workpiece materials
  • 2 cutting edges with screw-on mounting for secure, repeatable indexing
  • Multi-use application: turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring

Compatibility

Designed as a screw-on replacement insert for DCMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Compatible with standard DCMT insert pockets requiring a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 5/32-inch insert thickness, and a 0.1732-inch (4.40 mm) hole diameter.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified screw per the toolholder documentation - do not overtighten the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide. Confirm insert seating and edge orientation before resuming operation.
