The KENNAMETAL 3757618 is a VNMG331UN indexable turning insert in grade KCK20, manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer AlTiN and AlCrN PVD coating. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.375 inch inscribed circle, a 0.0156 inch corner radius, and a neutral hand orientation. With four cutting edges and a negative rake and side clearance geometry, this insert delivers high wear resistance in steel and cast iron applications. It is designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholders and is suited for roughing and medium machining operations performed by machinists and CNC lathe operators.
This insert is intended for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpiece materials. The KCK20 grade is characterized by high wear resistance in steel and a range from high wear resistance to moderate toughness in cast iron. The UN chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining pass depths. Typical applications include production turning on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both job shop and industrial manufacturing environments.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholding systems that accept VNMG-style inserts. Compatible with toolholders configured for clamp or pin retention. ANSI designation VNMG331 and ISO designation VNMG160404 allow cross-referencing with industry-standard toolholder catalogs for proper seat and pocket fit.
Insert seating and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician with the machine powered off and the spindle locked. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamping hardware for KENLOC toolholders; do not substitute non-OEM clamps or screws. Inspect cutting edges before each use and index or replace the insert when wear or chipping is observed to avoid workpiece damage or toolholder failure.
