The KENNAMETAL 3757608 is a solid carbide turning insert designated SNMG543UN in the KCK20 grade, part of the KENLOC series. It features a multilayer PVD AlTiN/AlCrN coating engineered for high wear-resistance in steel and cast iron machining. The square 90-degree insert geometry uses a negative rake angle and negative side clearance, providing 8 usable cutting edges per insert. With a 5/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/4-inch thickness, and a 3/64-inch corner radius (0.0469 inches), this insert is sized for medium to heavy stock removal. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians in production turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is designed for roughing and medium machining applications on steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K) workpieces. The UN chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous cuts. The PVD multilayer coating delivers high wear-resistance for P-grade steel and a range from high wear-resistance to moderate toughness for K-grade cast iron. Maximum depth of cut is 0.05 inches (1.25 mm). Typical applications include OD turning, facing passes, and boring on CNC lathes and turning centers in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholders accepting SNMG-style inserts with clamp or pin holding. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards under insert code SNMG543 (ISO: SNMG150612), allowing fitment in any compliant SNMG toolholder system. Verify holder pocket geometry and insert seating before use.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate KENNAMETAL KENLOC clamp or pin mechanism to secure the insert; do not exceed the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping torque range. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before indexing to a fresh cutting edge.
