The KENNAMETAL 3755682 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the ANSI designation TPMT3252MF and ISO designation TPMT16T308, finished in a multilayer MTCVD TiCN plus Al2O3 coating under the KCM15 grade. The triangular (T-style) geometry features a 60-degree included angle, an 11-degree relief angle, a positive rake and positive side clearance, and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and medium machining operations. At 0.6496 inches long and 5/32 inch thick, the insert mounts via screw-on holding and delivers three usable cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in lathes used for turning, facing, and boring.
This insert is engineered for steel (ISO P) and stainless steel (ISO M) as primary workpiece materials, with secondary application in superalloys and titanium (ISO S). The KCM15 grade balances moderate wear resistance with toughness for steel and delivers high to moderate wear resistance when cutting stainless steel. A maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches) aligns this insert with finishing and light-to-medium material removal passes rather than aggressive roughing. It is suited for both production turning centers and toolroom lathes where consistent surface finish and dimensional control are priorities.
Designed for use in standard screw-on TPMT toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO mounting specifications. Confirm toolholder pocket geometry matches the TPMT3252 (ISO 16T308) insert size code and screw-hole diameter of 4.40 mm (0.1732 inches) before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the spindle locked and machine power isolated per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct TPMT screw-on clamping screw and a calibrated torque driver to seat the insert firmly without cracking the carbide body. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating each new insert. Do not force or hammer the insert into the pocket.
