The KENNAMETAL 3755535 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT2152MF geometry, grade KCK20, designed for high-wear-resistance cutting on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert features a multilayer PVD coating combining AlTiN and AlCrN for thermal stability and extended tool life in finishing and medium machining operations. With an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 1/4-inch inscribed circle, and a 1/32-inch corner radius, it delivers precise chip control across turning, facing, and boring applications. The MF chip breaker geometry is optimized for consistent chip evacuation at finishing depths of cut. Licensed HVAC or machining professionals handling CNC lathe work will find this insert sized and toleranced to ANSI and ISO standards.
This insert is suited for use on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both production and jobshop environments. Its neutral hand orientation and positive rake angle make it compatible with a wide range of screw-on toolholders accepting CPMT-style inserts. Primary target materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K), where high wear resistance is the priority. The MF chip breaker extends usability into medium machining passes where chip control is critical. Two cutting edges per insert maximize value per unit in high-volume turning operations.
Designed as a screw-on style replacement insert for CPMT-style toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CPMT2152 and ISO insert code CPMT060208. Suitable for machining steel (ISO P workpiece group) and cast iron (ISO K workpiece group) at finishing and medium machining parameters.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified for the screw-on clamping system to secure the insert without overtightening, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Verify insert seating in the pocket is flush and fully supported before resuming cutting operations.
