The KENNAMETAL 3755517 is a TPMT2151LF solid carbide turning insert in grade KCK20, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features a 60-degree triangular shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance, delivering consistent chip control during finishing and light machining passes. Coated via PVD with a multilayer AlTiN and AlCrN coating, it provides high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert measures 11.00 mm in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius, making it well-suited for tight-tolerance surface finish applications.
The 3755517 is intended for use in screw-on style turning toolholders and is compatible with TPMT-style insert pockets. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material group P) and cast iron (ISO material group K), covering a broad range of production turning environments. The chip breaker designation LF targets finishing and light machining operations where controlled chip evacuation and surface finish are critical. Maximum recommended depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.050 inches). This insert is a neutral-hand geometry, making it adaptable to both external and internal turning setups on standard CNC lathes.
Designed for use in TPMT-style screw-on turning toolholders. Conforms to ANSI insert code TPMT2151 and ISO insert code TPMT110204. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron workpieces across standard CNC lathe platforms.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC tooling technicians using the appropriate screw-on clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before indexing or replacing the insert. Verify seating surface is clean and free of chips before torquing the insert screw to the toolholder specification. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm to maintain edge integrity and achieve intended surface finish results.
