The KENNAMETAL 3755485 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CPMT3252LF geometry with KCK20 grade designation. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a screw-on holding method. The insert carries a multilayer PVD coating classified as AlTiN and AlCrN, delivering high wear resistance across steel and cast iron applications. The cutting edge is honed to support finishing and light machining operations. With a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius, this insert fits standard CPMT-style toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary installers.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (ISO material group P) and cast iron (ISO material group K). Its LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes where surface finish and dimensional control are critical. The KCK20 grade provides high wear resistance on steel and a balance of wear resistance to moderate toughness on cast iron. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI insert code CPMT3252 and ISO insert code CPMT09T308.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications on steel and cast iron workpiece materials. Verify toolholder insert pocket geometry matches CPMT3252 (ANSI) or CPMT09T308 (ISO) specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the correct Torx or hex key. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, chips, or debris before seating a new insert, as a damaged pocket will affect cutting performance and part tolerances.
