The KENNAMETAL 3754062 is a CCMT-style indexable turning insert designed for precision metal removal on steel workpieces. It carries the KCP30 manufacturer grade and features a multilayer CVD coating system — TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process — for elevated wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The insert measures 9.67 mm (0.3808 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The LF chip breaker geometry and honed cutting edge style promote controlled chip formation during light to moderate cuts. This is a screw-on mounting style insert with two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel in both production and job-shop environments. The positive rake angle of 5 degrees and 80-degree diamond insert shape (shape code C) provide a strong cutting edge with moderate entry angle, making it a practical choice for general-purpose steel turning where surface finish and edge life are priorities. The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), positioning this insert for finishing and semi-finishing passes. Machinists and CNC lathe operators in manufacturing and tool-room settings are the primary users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for use in standard CCMT screw-on indexable toolholders. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards for CCMT 3252 insert geometry. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P). Material grades C5 and C6.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators during planned insert indexing or replacement. Power down and lock out the machine before accessing the toolholder pocket. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat and torque the clamp screw — follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specification. Inspect the pocket and seating surface for chips or damage before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
