The KENNAMETAL 3754014 is a VNMG432RN KCP40 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for metal cutting operations in CNC and manual lathe applications. It features a multilayer CVD coating - TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process - delivering high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The insert measures 22.14 mm in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/16-inch thickness, and a 1/32-inch corner radius. The 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and negative rake geometry are suited to roughing and medium machining passes. Four cutting edges are available per insert, and the RN chip breaker geometry supports turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring.
This insert is part of the KENLOC series and is rated for primary workpiece materials of steel (P grade - high toughness) and stainless steel (M grade - moderate wear resistance and toughness). Typical applications include roughing and medium-depth passes on CNC turning centers in job shop, production machining, and maintenance environments. The insert conforms to ANSI code VNMG432 and ISO code VNMG220408, making it a standard geometry used across a wide range of VNMG-compatible toolholders. It is installed with clamp or pin holding methods. Each insert has a negative side clearance (clearance code N) and tolerance code M per ANSI and ISO standards.
Designed for use in VNMG432-compatible toolholders that accept clamp or pin holding. Fits toolholders conforming to ANSI VNMG432 and ISO VNMG220408 insert geometry specifications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before clamping to maintain proper seating and cutting edge geometry. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's clamping torque specifications and do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm) as specified for this insert geometry.
