The KENNAMETAL 3753789 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry designation TNMG331MN in the KCP30 manufacturer grade. It features a multilayer MTCVD coating system consisting of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3, engineered to deliver moderate wear resistance combined with high toughness. The insert is 0.6496 inches (16.50 mm) long with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, a 1/64-inch corner radius, and a 60-degree triangular shape. The MN chip breaker geometry targets roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC turning professionals install this insert in KENLOC-compatible toolholders for steel and stainless steel turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning operations in both production and job-shop environments. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of setups. The KCP30 grade is rated for steel (P-class) applications requiring a balance of wear resistance and toughness, and for stainless steel (M-class) applications with moderate wear resistance and toughness demands. With six available cutting edges per insert, it provides good cost-per-edge value in medium to high-volume turning runs. The ANSI size code is 331 and the ISO equivalent designation is TNMG160404.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC series toolholders that accept TNMG-style inserts with a 0.15-inch hole diameter, negative rake, and N-clearance geometry. Suitable for P-class and M-class workpiece materials including steel and stainless steel.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate KENLOC clamp or pin mechanism to secure the insert; do not overtighten with improvised tools. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or wear before seating a new insert to ensure proper support and edge engagement.
