The KENNAMETAL 3753518 is a DNMG542RN KCP25 solid carbide turning insert with a multilayer MTCVD-applied TiCN and Al2O3 coating. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a 5/8-inch inscribed circle (0.6250 inches), and a 1/32-inch corner radius (0.0313 inches). The insert thickness is 1/4 inch (0.2500 inches) and the insert length is 1.5260 inches (19.38 mm). The RN chip breaker geometry is designed for roughing and medium machining operations. The KCP25 grade offers moderate wear resistance and toughness, suited to steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators in production and job-shop environments.
The 3753518 is used in turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Its negative rake angle and negative side clearance (clearance code N, tolerance code M) support stable, high-load cutting conditions. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron, with the KCP25 grade also rated for aluminum and non-ferrous (N) applications at moderate wear resistance and toughness. The KENLOC series insert is held in place by clamp or pin-lock toolholders. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). Four cutting edges are available per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume turning programs.
Designed for use in KENLOC series clamp and pin-lock turning toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts. Conforms to ANSI standard DNMG542 and ISO standard DNMG190608, making it interchangeable with any toolholder specified for that insert geometry. Suitable for multi-use turning applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured in the turret before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp screw driver per the toolholder manufacturer specification; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain accurate indexing.
