The KENNAMETAL 3753242 is a WNMG431FN KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on steel and cast iron workpieces. Coated via MTCVD process with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 CVD coating, this insert delivers high wear resistance on steel (P) applications and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous (N) materials. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape provides six usable cutting edges per insert, maximizing tool economy. With an inscribed circle of 0.5 inches, an insert length of 0.684 inches (8.69 mm), and a corner radius of 0.0156 inches (1/64 inch), this insert is suited to finishing operations. It is installed via clamp or pin holding in compatible KENLOC toolholders.
This insert is engineered for finishing chip breaker (FN) applications in turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries a neutral hand designation and a negative rake geometry with a 10-degree rake angle and zero-degree relief (N clearance). The WNMG431 ANSI size code corresponds to ISO size code WNMG080404, making it compatible with standard metric and inch toolholder systems. Typical applications include CNC lathe and turning center operations on steel and cast iron components in industrial manufacturing environments. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators working to tight tolerances on finishing passes.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting WNMG431 (ANSI) or WNMG080404 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin insert holding. Primary workpiece materials are steel (P) and cast iron or non-ferrous metals (N).
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully and flat against the toolholder pocket before engaging the clamp or pin to prevent insert rocking during cutting. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before each insert change to maintain dimensional accuracy.
