The KENNAMETAL 3753238 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the VNMG331FN industry-standard designation and the KCP10 manufacturer grade. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 16.61 mm (0.654 inches) in length with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. With four usable cutting edges, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake and side clearance geometry, this insert is suited for high-efficiency finishing operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The KENNAMETAL 3753238 is designed for finishing operations including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Primary workpiece materials are steel (material code P) and cast iron (material code N). The FN chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.049 inches). The insert seats in KENLOC-series toolholders using a clamp and pin holding method. It conforms to ANSI insert code VNMG331 and ISO insert code VNMG160404, making it a fit for standard VNMG-geometry toolholder pockets used in both job-shop and production turning applications.

Index or replace this insert with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Use the correct torque wrench or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamp and pin. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for chips or wear before seating a fresh insert. Confirm depth-of-cut and feed rate settings do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm to avoid insert fracture on finishing passes.
