The KENNAMETAL 3753228 is a solid carbide turning insert in the SNMG433FN geometry, coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 CVD coating under the KCP10 grade designation. It carries a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, a 3/64-inch (0.0469 inches) corner radius, and a 90-degree square shape with a negative rake and negative side clearance. The FN chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations. With 8 available cutting edges per insert and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, this insert delivers high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists are the primary users.
This insert is suited for finishing passes in turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The KCP10 grade targets high wear resistance in steel (ISO P) applications and provides moderate wear resistance combined with toughness in aluminum and non-ferrous (ISO N) applications. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, carrying ANSI insert code SNMG433 and ISO insert code SNMG120412, making it a standard fit across KENLOC-series toolholders designed for SNMG geometry inserts. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), confirming its role as a finishing-class insert rather than a roughing tool.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting SNMG433 or SNMG120412 geometry inserts with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, and boring applications on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists following the toolholder manufacturer torque and seating procedures for SNMG clamp or pin-lock systems. Always index or replace the insert with the machine fully stopped and the spindle locked. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new edge. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for this insert geometry, as overloading a finishing insert can cause edge fracture.
