The KENNAMETAL 3752074 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT2151LF and ISO designation CPMT060204, designed for precision metal removal in turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle and positive side clearance, making it well-suited for controlled chip formation in finishing and light machining applications. The multilayer CVD coating combines TiCN and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process under the KCK05 grade, delivering high wear resistance across steel and cast iron workpiece materials. A honed cutting edge style and LF chip breaker geometry complete the design. Licensed HVAC and machining trades recognize this geometry for its balance of edge strength and surface finish quality.
This insert is intended for finishing and light machining passes on steel (P-class) and cast iron (K-class) workpieces, with secondary suitability for nonferrous materials (N-class). The maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches), confirming its role in light-stock-removal finishing work rather than heavy roughing. It is mounted via screw-on (hole clamp) holding method, compatible with CPMT-style toolholders. Two cutting edges are available per insert, providing cost efficiency in high-turnover production environments. Typical installation scenarios include CNC turning centers and manual lathes running steel shafts, cast iron housings, and similar precision components.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician using the screw-on clamping method; ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating of 1.25 mm for this insert geometry, as exceeding finishing-class parameters can cause premature edge failure. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's torque guidance for the clamping screw.
