The KENNAMETAL 3752058 is a round solid carbide turning insert with ANSI and ISO designation RCMT1204M0RP in grade KCK15. The insert features a multilayer CVD coating consisting of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpieces. With a 12 mm (0.4724 inch) inscribed circle, 0.1875 inch thickness, and an RP chip breaker geometry, this insert is suited for roughing and medium machining operations. The round shape provides a full 360-degree included angle and four usable cutting edges per insert, making it a versatile option for turning, facing, and boring applications. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers specify this grade for P and K material classifications.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron in both production and job-shop environments. The RP chip breaker geometry handles roughing to medium machining depths with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch). The positive rake and positive side clearance geometry reduce cutting forces and are appropriate for applications requiring consistent chip control at moderate to aggressive feed rates. The screw-on mounting method keeps the insert securely seated during interrupted cuts and multi-axis passes.
Designed as an OEM-style screw-on turning insert conforming to ANSI and ISO standard RCMT1204M0, fitting compatible screw-on style toolholders with the appropriate insert pocket geometry for the RCMT 1204 size code.
Installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine spindle fully stopped and locked out per facility LOTO procedures. Use the manufacturer-recommended torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not over-torque, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before seating a new insert, and verify the chip breaker orientation matches the intended cutting direction before resuming operation.
