The KENNAMETAL 3751818 is a SNMG432MN geometry turning insert in grade KCP40, designed for use in metal cutting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert is manufactured from solid carbide and features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process. This coating combination delivers high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance and toughness on stainless steel. The square SNMG insert shape provides 8 usable cutting edges, making it a cost-effective choice for production turning. Chip breaker designation MN targets roughing and medium machining operations. The insert conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI code SNMG432 and ISO code SNMG120408.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel (ISO P workpiece material) and stainless steel (ISO M workpiece material). Primary grade characteristics include high toughness for steel applications and moderate wear resistance with toughness for stainless steel. The MN chip breaker geometry supports roughing to medium-depth passes. Material grades C5 and C6 apply. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The insert is compatible with KENLOC series toolholders that accept SNMG-style inserts and use clamp or pin holding methods.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting SNMG432 inserts with clamp or pin holding method. Verified compatible insert codes are ANSI SNMG432 and ISO SNMG120408.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper insert contact and prevent premature edge failure.
