The KENNAMETAL 3751814 is a DNMG432MN KCP40 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for steel and stainless steel machining applications. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering a balance of high toughness on steel and moderate wear resistance on stainless steel. The insert has a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a negative rake angle, and a neutral hand orientation. With four usable cutting edges and an MN chip breaker geometry, it is suited for roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is used in external and internal turning operations including facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. Its KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with toolholders designed for clamp and pin insert holding methods. The MN chip breaker geometry handles interrupted and continuous cuts on steel workpieces, making it a practical choice for both roughing passes and medium-depth finishing work in job shop and production environments. The negative side clearance and chamfered, honed cutting edge style contribute to edge stability under heavier chip loads.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders that accept DNMG432 (ISO DNMG150408) inserts using clamp or pin holding methods. Suitable for primary workpiece materials coded P (Steel) and M (Stainless Steel) per ISO material classification.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing the insert. Ensure the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut specified for the insert geometry, and verify toolholder torque specifications against the toolholder manufacturer documentation.
