The KENNAMETAL 3751620 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT3252MW and ISO designation CPMT09T308, coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 CVD coating under the KCP25 grade. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a positive rake angle and 11-degree relief angle, contributing to stable cutting performance during turning, facing, and boring operations. The MW chip breaker is engineered for medium machining applications with a wiper edge geometry that improves surface finish at standard feed rates. At 9.67 mm in length and 0.375 inches inscribed circle, this insert fits screw-on toolholders and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. Installation and application are handled by machinists and CNC turning center operators in production and job shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning steel and cast iron workpieces in both residential shop and industrial production settings. The KCP25 grade provides moderate wear resistance combined with toughness, making it appropriate for general-purpose steel (P) and aluminum and non-ferrous (N) material groups. The positive side clearance and chamfered, honed cutting edge style reduce cutting forces and edge chipping during interrupted or continuous cuts. Typical applications include external and internal turning, facing passes, and light boring where consistent surface finish and tool life predictability are priorities.
Designed for use in screw-on CPMT-style turning toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for the CPMT3252 (ISO 09T308) insert seat size. Insert seating and replacement is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Always index or replace inserts with the machine spindle stopped and the machine in a locked-out, zero-energy state per applicable shop safety procedures. Use the correct screw torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to avoid cracking the carbide insert or stripping the clamp screw. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or damage before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
