The KENNAMETAL 3751581 is a DCMT2151LF screw-on turning insert in grade KCP25, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC and manual turning applications. The insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape and is manufactured from solid carbide with a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3. The inscribed circle measures 0.25 inches, the insert length is 7.75 mm (0.6104 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0156 inches). With a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle, this insert is configured for finishing and light machining operations. It offers two cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style for consistent surface finish and edge stability.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes on steel and cast iron workpieces, as well as aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The KCP25 grade provides moderate wear resistance and toughness across these material categories, making it a versatile option for production environments where consistent surface finish and dimensional accuracy are required. It conforms to both ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI insert code DCMT2151 and ISO insert code DCMT070204.
Designed for use in screw-on style turning toolholders accepting DCMT-style inserts per ANSI and ISO standard specifications. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Secure the insert using the appropriate screw-on clamp and torx or hex key per toolholder manufacturer specifications. Ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips or debris before seating the insert to prevent rocking or improper seating. Always index to a fresh cutting edge before continuing production after any edge wear or chipping is detected.
