The KENNAMETAL 3751577 is a solid carbide turning insert designated CPMT2151LF in the KCP25 grade, designed for precision turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering moderate wear resistance and toughness suited to steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 6.45 mm (0.2539 inches) in length with a 0.25-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining cuts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on style toolholders.
This insert is suited to finishing and light machining passes on steel and cast iron workpieces, as well as aluminum and non-ferrous materials in both primary material code P and N applications. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides good nose strength for general turning and facing passes. The positive rake angle of 5 degrees and positive side clearance support clean chip formation at lighter depths of cut, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The neutral hand orientation and screw-on mounting method make it compatible with a wide range of CPMT-style toolholders used in production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use in CPMT-style screw-on turning toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code CPMT2151 and ISO insert code CPMT060204. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and de-energize the machine before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specification; do not overtighten, as this can crack the insert. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
