The KENNAMETAL 3751554 is a round (R-style) carbide turning insert designed for general-purpose metal removal on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the ANSI insert code RCMT325 and ISO code RCMT097300, this insert features a 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch) inscribed circle and a full 360-degree included angle, meaning every point on its circumference is a usable cutting edge. The KCP25 grade uses a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 to balance wear resistance with toughness across a broad range of cutting conditions. With four cutting edges per insert and a positive rake geometry, this insert is a cost-efficient choice for production turning, facing, and boring operations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators handling steel and cast iron will find this a dependable everyday insert.
This insert targets medium machining conditions on steel and cast iron workpieces, classified under primary material codes P and N. The positive side clearance and honed cutting edge style help reduce cutting forces and manage heat during moderate-depth passes. It is suited for turning, facing, and boring applications in both job-shop and production environments. The screw-on holding method (insert holding by screw) provides rigid, repeatable seating in compatible RCMT-style toolholders. Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lockout the machine before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque — do not over-torque, as carbide inserts are brittle. Inspect the insert pocket and shim for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper geometry and runout.
