The KENNAMETAL 3751480 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DNMG431FN geometry, coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 CVD coating under the KCP05 grade designation. Designed for finishing operations, it features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, a neutral hand orientation, and a negative rake and side clearance configuration. The insert measures 15.5 mm (0.621 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. Four cutting edges are available per insert. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with secondary capability on non-ferrous and aluminum workpieces. The KCP05 grade provides high wear resistance on steel (P-class materials) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous (N-class) materials. It belongs to the KENLOC series and is held by clamp or pin mounting methods, making it compatible with standard DNMG-style toolholders used across both ANSI and ISO tooling systems.
Conforms to ANSI insert code DNMG431 and ISO insert code DNMG150404. Designed for use in KENLOC-series and compatible DNMG-style toolholders that accept clamp or pin retention. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw or pin to avoid insert fracture or movement during cut.
