The KENNAMETAL 3749467 is a CNMG542MN KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for high-productivity metal cutting operations. It carries a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 applied via MTCVD process, delivering high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert measures 16.12 mm (0.6346 inches) in length with a 5/8 inch (0.6250 inch) inscribed circle, a 1/4 inch insert thickness, and a 1/32 inch corner radius. It features a negative rake geometry and negative side clearance, making it suited for rigid, stable toolholder setups. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC operators in production turning environments.
The MN chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining operations on steel and cast iron. Its four cutting edges and neutral hand orientation allow flexible use across turning, facing, and boring applications. The KCP10 grade provides high wear resistance on steel (P-class workpieces) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N-class workpieces). The insert conforms to both ANSI (CNMG542) and ISO (CNMG160608) standards and fits toolholders designed for KENLOC-series clamping systems using clamp and pin holding methods.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool turret or holder is secured before seating or indexing the insert. Verify the insert pocket and seating surface are clean and free of chips or debris before clamping. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer - do not overtighten or substitute fastener types.
