The KENNAMETAL 3749465 is a CNMG431MN KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for general turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. Coated with a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 finish applied via MTCVD and CVD processes, this insert delivers high wear resistance against steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape provides a strong cutting geometry with a negative rake and negative side clearance. With four usable cutting edges and an MN chip breaker optimized for roughing and medium machining, this insert is a practical choice for production turning environments where insert life and chip control matter.
This insert is suited for CNC lathe and turning center applications in job shops and production machining facilities handling steel and cast iron components. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC toolholders that accept CNMG-style inserts secured by clamp and pin holding methods. It is appropriate for both roughing passes and medium-duty cutting where controlled chip breaking is required. The MN chip breaker geometry handles a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making it well matched to moderate material removal rate operations.

Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling setup personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and seating surfaces are clean and free of chips before clamping. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamp screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the insert.
