The KENNAMETAL 3749416 is a WPMT2151LF solid carbide turning insert in the KCP10 grade, designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, and boring operations. The insert features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, delivering high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpieces. The 80-degree trigon (W) insert shape provides three cutting edges per insert. The LF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing and light machining passes, producing consistent surface finishes at reduced depths of cut. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops or production environments will recognize this as a standard screw-on style insert for indexable toolholders.
This insert is suited for external turning, facing, and boring applications on steel (P-class) and aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N-class). The positive rake angle and honed cutting edge reduce cutting forces during light finishing cuts. The KCP10 grade is characterized by high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous metals. Maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making this insert appropriate for finish passes rather than heavy roughing cycles. It fits standard WPMT-style screw-on toolholders indexed to the ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for WPMT-style screw-on indexable turning toolholders conforming to ANSI insert code WPMT2151 and ISO insert code WPMT110204. Suitable for multi-use application in turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC operators or machinists. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all power is removed from the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and screw size specified by the toolholder manufacturer when securing the screw-on insert to avoid seat damage or insert breakage. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating the new insert.
