The KENNAMETAL 3749383 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPMT3251LF and ISO designation CPMT09T304, finished in a multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 CVD coating under the KCP10 grade. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle with positive side clearance. The insert is designed for finishing and light machining operations including turning, facing, and boring. With a honed cutting edge style and two usable cutting edges, it delivers high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in screw-on style toolholders for precision material removal.
This insert is suited for use in steel (P-grade) and cast iron applications where tight tolerances and fine surface finishes are required. Its 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 1/64-inch corner radius make it appropriate for light-depth finishing passes, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). The LF chip breaker geometry optimizes chip control during finishing cuts on steel and cast iron workpieces. The insert is neutral hand and compatible with standard CPMT screw-on toolholders used in CNC lathes and machining centers in both production and job-shop environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for standard CPMT screw-on style toolholders accepting a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 80-degree diamond insert with ANSI size code 3251 and ISO size code 09T304.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the insert seat and screw for wear or contamination before each insert change to prevent premature edge failure.
