The KENNAMETAL 3749347 is a CNMG431FF KCP10 solid carbide turning insert designed for precision metal removal on CNC and manual lathes. Coated with multilayer TiCN and Al2O3 via MTCVD/CVD process, it delivers high wear resistance on steel and cast iron and moderate wear resistance on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 12.9 mm (0.5079 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch corner radius. The FF chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing operations, producing tight chip control at light depths of cut up to 0.0492 inches. This is a neutral-hand, four-edge insert held in the KENLOC toolholding system. It is installed by licensed machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop turning applications.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both light finishing and semi-finishing passes. Its 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, negative rake, and negative side clearance make it compatible with standard CNMG-style toolholders. The FF chip breaker geometry performs well in applications requiring a fine surface finish and controlled chip evacuation at reduced feed rates. Material grades C3 and C7 cover a range of hardened and general-purpose steel applications as well as non-ferrous alloys. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers will find this insert well suited to finishing-pass programs where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are priorities.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production insert for CNMG431 / ISO CNMG120404-style toolholders. Compatible with KENLOC series toolholding systems. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring multi-use applications per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate CNMG clamp or pin-lock toolholder per KENLOC specifications and ensure the insert pocket is clean and free of chips before seating. Do not exceed the rated maximum depth of cut for this insert geometry.
