The insert features a multilayer MTCVD coating combining TiCN and Al2O3, delivering high wear resistance on steel (P) and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials (N). The 80-degree trigon (W) shape provides a strong cutting geometry with a negative rake angle of 5 degrees and a chamfered, honed cutting edge style. Six usable cutting edges maximize tool economy. With an inscribed circle of 0.375 inches and a corner radius of 0.03125 inches, this insert is suited to roughing and medium machining operations.
The 3749293 is applied in turning, facing, and boring operations across general metalworking environments. Its KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with Kennametal KENLOC-style insert toolholders. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, with secondary suitability for aluminum and non-ferrous alloys.
