The KENNAMETAL 3749269 is a DNMG432RP KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for steel and cast iron machining applications. It features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, providing high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert geometry is a 55-degree diamond (D-shape) with a negative rake angle and negative side clearance. With a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 0.1875-inch thickness, and a 0.0313-inch corner radius, this insert suits roughing and medium machining operations. It is compatible with KENLOC-style clamp and pin holding systems. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert in production turning centers and manual lathes.
This insert is suited for external and internal turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining, making it effective for moderate-to-heavy interrupted and continuous cuts. The KCP10 grade delivers high wear resistance in steel (ISO P) applications and moderate wear resistance with toughness in non-ferrous and aluminum (ISO N) applications. The four available cutting edges per insert support cost-effective tooling management in high-volume production environments. Both ANSI (DNMG432) and ISO (DNMG150408) insert codes apply.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept DNMG432 (ANSI) or DNMG150408 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO N). Material grades C3 and C7 apply.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamping screw or pin to avoid insert rocking during the cut. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before each insert index to maintain consistent tool geometry.
