The KENNAMETAL 3749263 is a CNMG543RP KCP10 grade solid carbide turning insert designed for high-demand metal cutting operations. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, applied via MT-CVD process, delivering high wear resistance on steel and cast iron workpieces and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 16.12 mm (0.6346 inches) in length with a 5/8-inch inscribed circle and a 3/64-inch (0.0469-inch) corner radius. With four usable cutting edges and an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, this insert is suited for roughing and medium machining applications in turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is intended for use in CNC lathes and turning centers running steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The RP chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining passes, making it appropriate for production environments where stock removal rates and edge life are priorities. It is installed using a clamp or pin holding method and is compatible with KENLOC series toolholders designed for CNMG-style inserts. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in job shop, production, and maintenance machining environments are the primary users.
Designed for use in KENLOC series toolholders accepting CNMG543 (ANSI) or CNMG160612 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Multi-use insert; compatible with standard negative-rake CNMG toolholders meeting ANSI and ISO interface specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine powered down and spindle locked before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and manufacturer-specified clamp hardware for the KENLOC toolholder to secure the insert; do not overtighten clamping screws by hand estimation. Inspect the insert seat and chip pocket for debris before seating a new insert edge. Confirm correct insert orientation and chip breaker direction relative to the direction of cut before resuming operation.
