The KENNAMETAL 3748378 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI insert code CNMG432 and ISO code CNMG120408, designed for precision turning, facing, and boring operations. It carries the KCP05 grade designation and features a multilayer MTCVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3, providing high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The insert measures 12.90 mm (0.5077 inches) in length with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle and a 1/32-inch (0.0313-inch) corner radius. The FW chip breaker geometry is a wiper-finishing style, making this insert well suited to light finishing passes where tight tolerances and smooth surface finishes are required. Licensed HVAC techs, machinists, and CNC operators working in production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for use on steel (ISO material group P) and cast iron (ISO material group K) workpieces as its primary applications, with aluminum and non-ferrous materials (ISO group N) as a secondary application.
