The KENNAMETAL 3746126 is a solid carbide turning insert in CCMT32505UF geometry with a KCP05 grade multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3. The insert features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a positive side clearance. The UF chip breaker is optimized for finishing operations, delivering tight chip control at light depths of cut. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, the insert length is 0.3808 inches (9.67 mm), and the corner radius is 0.0079 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC lathe operators install this insert in screw-on style toolholders for precision turning, facing, and boring applications.
This insert is designed for finishing cuts on steel and cast iron as primary workpiece materials, with moderate applicability to aluminum and non-ferrous materials. The KCP05 grade delivers high wear resistance on steel and moderate wear resistance with toughness on non-ferrous workpieces. Typical applications include external turning, internal boring, and facing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy are the primary goals. The maximum depth of cut is 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm), making this insert well suited to light finishing passes rather than roughing operations on CNC turning centers and manual lathes.
Designed for use in screw-on style CCMT toolholders conforming to ANSI size code 32505 and ISO size code 09T302. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous workpiece materials.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is indexed to a safe position before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully onto the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque to prevent insert rocking or shifting. Inspect the pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert.
