The KENNAMETAL 3742557 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for precision milling operations in metal-cutting applications. Built around a 1-1/4 inch cutting diameter and a 0.392 inch maximum depth of cut, this tool accepts four EC10 or EP10 series inserts secured by screw-clamp retention. The 3.88 inch overall length and 1-1/4 inch Weldon flat shank provide solid tool holding in standard milling chucks and end mill holders. Through-coolant capability with a 0.275 inch coolant hole diameter keeps cutting edges cool and clears chips at high speeds, with a rated maximum spindle speed of 35,500 RPM. Licensed machinists and CNC mill operators are the primary users of this tool body.
This end mill is suited for square-shoulder milling, slotting, and peripheral milling on machining centers and manual knee mills where a 1-1/4 inch Weldon flat shank is required. The Mill 1-10 cutter style and zero-degree lead angle make it appropriate for producing true 90-degree walls in ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. The four-insert configuration balances material removal rate with insert cost per edge, making this body practical for production and job-shop environments alike. Through-coolant delivery directly to the cutting zone supports extended insert life in demanding cuts.

Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is in a locked-out, tagged-out state before changing or indexing inserts. Seat the Weldon flat shank fully into the holder and torque the set screw to the holder specification before operation. Verify coolant line pressure and flow to the through-coolant port before engaging a cut at elevated RPM.
