The KENNAMETAL 3742518 is an indexable square-shoulder end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining environments. Built to the ISO designation M1D050E1001C062L350, it features a 0.500 inch cutting diameter and a maximum depth of cut of 0.404 inches. The 5/8 inch cylindrical shank provides a secure fit in standard toolholders. With a single flute and one indexable insert secured by a screw-type holding method, this end mill is suited for high-speed squaring, slotting, and shoulder milling applications. Through-coolant capability is standard, supporting longer tool life and chip evacuation at high spindle speeds. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments are the primary installers and users.
This end mill is used in CNC machining centers and manual mills where clean 90-degree shoulder profiles are required. The 0 degree lead angle ensures true square-shoulder cuts in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The through-coolant design makes it effective in deep-reach or high-feed applications where heat and chip buildup are concerns. At a maximum rated speed of 56,500 RPM, it is appropriate for high-speed machining setups. The 3-1/2 inch overall length gives adequate reach while maintaining rigidity in the cut.
Compatible with EC10.. and EP10.. series indexable inserts. Designed for use in CNC machining centers and milling machines accepting a 5/8 inch cylindrical shank toolholder.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by qualified machinists with the spindle fully stopped and the machine in a locked-out, de-energized state per applicable machine safety protocols. Ensure the cylindrical shank is fully seated and clamped to the toolholder manufacturer's specified retention method before operation. When replacing the indexable insert, use the appropriate torx or hex key driver and follow the insert manufacturer's seating procedure to avoid insert rocking or improper clamping. Verify coolant passages are clear and aligned before resuming through-coolant operation.
