The KENNAMETAL 3733417 is a polycrystalline cubic boron nitride (PCBN) turning insert carrying industry standard designation DNGA431S0425MT in grade KB5630 with an AlTiN PVD coating. It features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5 inch inscribed circle, and a 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch) corner radius. The flat-top chip breaker geometry and chamfered, honed cutting edge are engineered for high wear-resistance in demanding cutting applications. With two cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert is suited for high-productivity turning operations on hard and difficult-to-machine materials. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in precision metalworking environments are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is designed for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. Its PCBN substrate and AlTiN coating make it particularly effective on hard materials and special or super alloys, corresponding to primary workpiece material codes K and S. It is held in a KENLOC-compatible toolholder using a clamp and pin method. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish passes on hardened steels, cast irons, and high-temperature alloys where conventional carbide inserts lose edge life prematurely. The maximum depth of cut is 13/32 inch (0.4065 inch).

This insert is installed and indexed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing or indexing inserts. Use the appropriate torque wrench and seating tool for the KENLOC clamp system to ensure proper insert seating without rocking. Inspect the insert pocket and locating surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to prevent premature edge failure.
