The KENNAMETAL 3683843 is a replaceable drill tip in the KSEM series, designed for use with compatible modular drill bodies in demanding metal-cutting applications. The tip measures 39.75 mm in cutting diameter and features a 140-degree included point angle optimized for standard drilling operations. Manufactured from solid carbide with a fine grain microstructure, it carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The KC7315 grade delivers wear resistance and thermal stability suited to high-output production drilling. The HPG insert geometry supports chip control and cutting efficiency across two helical flutes with two margins and through-coolant delivery, including compatibility with MQL systems.
This drill tip is suited for drilling steel and cast iron in industrial and manufacturing environments. Typical applications include through-hole drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling. The through-coolant design makes it appropriate for high-feed operations where heat management at the cutting edge is critical. It is installed and used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments. The seat size 10 designation matches it to the corresponding KSEM modular drill body platform.
Designed for use with KSEM modular drill bodies requiring an insert seat size 10. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO material code P) and cast iron (ISO material code K). ISO designation for this tip is KSEM3975HPGM.
This replaceable tip is installed and serviced by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the drill body and seat are clean and free of chips or debris before seating the tip, as contamination affects runout and tip life. Follow the drill body manufacturer's clamping torque procedure for seat size 10 inserts. Confirm through-coolant line pressure and flow rate are within the machine tool's specified range before starting the cut.
