The KENNAMETAL 3682451 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying ISO designation EDCT10T304PDERLDJ and ANSI code EC1004ELDJ. Manufactured in the KC422M grade with a titanium diboride (TiB2) PVD coating, this insert is engineered for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. It features a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry at 15 degrees, and a honed cutting edge. At 0.1476 inches thick and 0.2657 inches wide, with a length of 0.4740 inches, the insert mounts via screw-hold and operates as a right-hand, single-sided tool with two cutting edges. The LDJ chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation in demanding milling operations.
This insert is intended for milling applications on non-ferrous workpiece materials, including aluminum alloys, copper, brass, and similar materials where TiB2 coating excels by reducing built-up edge. It is compatible with the Mill 1-10 cutter series and is sized to the EDCT 10T3 insert pocket format. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling operations performed in CNC machining environments by machinists and tooling specialists working in production or job-shop settings.
Designed for use with the Mill 1-10 cutter series. Insert size code 10T304 fits EDCT-series pockets. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standards as noted in the designations EC1004ELDJ and EDCT10T304PDERLDJ respectively.
Installation is performed by machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the pocket and torque the clamping screw to the tool body manufacturer specification using a calibrated torque driver. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for wear or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and edge registration.
